At Perceptions Aesthetic Spa we use the Class II FDA-cleared SkinPen medical microneedling system.
Microneedling, known as collagen-induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure, done with a little, pen-like automated device with small sterile needles to penetrate areas of the skin & create microscopic controlled wounds. These wounds induce the body’s natural healing response, sending collagen and elastin to repair & rejuvenate the skin. This process reduces the appearance of imperfections, restores sun-damage skin and reveals a smoother and clearer complexion.
Pre-treatment the skin is numbed for approximately 45 minutes and most people describe moderate to low pain sensations during treatment. Patients may feel warm and slightly tender post treatment and for the remainder of the day and can typically wear make-up and resume normal activity 24 hours post procedure.
Desired results are cumulative and will continue to improve with time. Typically, 4 treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart is ideal, however the number of treatments needed normally depends on the condition of the skin before treatment and the patient’s individual response. Microneedling does not involve heat and is safe for all skin types.
